Bank Holiday Health Advice at Your Fingertips
News Release from NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care
Health advice is just a few clicks away if you need medical help this Bank Holiday Monday, 29 August, by calling NHS 111 or visiting NHS 111 online - www.111.nhs.uk.
GP practices in Stockport are closed that day, so if you have a medical need call NHS 111 and you will be directed to the most appropriate service to use. It’s free to call and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. NHS 111 online can also help if you have a medical problem and you don’t know what to do. The NHS Health A-Z guide may also provide the answers you are looking for at www.nhs.uk/conditions.
If your condition is serious or a life-threatening emergency, call 999 immediately or go to your nearest emergency department.
It's always useful to have a basic self-care kit at home to manage the symptoms of minor health conditions. This can include painkillers, plasters, anti-diarrhoea tablets and anti-histamines, all of which can be bought from your local supermarket or pharmacy.
A number of Stockport pharmacies will be open on Monday, 29 August, see the list on the Greater Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee’s website: www.greater-manchester.communitypharmacy.org.uk/our-news/gm-pharmacies-august-bank-holiday-opening-hours
Anita Rolfe, Director of Health, Quality and Improvement/Deputy Place Lead, One Stockport Health and Care Partnership said:
“Contacting NHS 111 is the quickest way to get medical advice over the Bank Holiday weekend. You will be offered advice and directed to the best place to get the help you need, which might include directing you to a pharmacy or self-help information.”
