It’s not too late for over 50s to get the COVID-19 winter booster vaccination
News release from NHS Greater Manchester (Stockport Locality)
There’s still time this winter for anyone 50 or over to get vaccinated or boosted against COVID-19 at One Stockport Hub vaccination clinic, Mersey Square, Stockport, SK1 1RA. The clinic is reopening from Saturday, 21 January, and will open every Saturday up to and including Saturday, 11 February, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. No booking is required, just walk-in.
The NHS is encouraging those at greatest risk to get vaccinated, with those aged 50 and over able to book now. It’s also not too late for anyone 5+ to get a first or second vaccination, or a booster vaccination for anyone aged 16+.
Local pharmacies across Stockport are also offering vaccinations, bookable via the National Booking Service at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.
Jennifer Connolly, Director of Public Health for Stockport, said:
"COVID-19 is still out there, and the virus is more serious in people aged over 50 and those with a weakened immune system. Make sure you stay up-to-date with your vaccines for the best possible protection and to keep yourself and others safe.
“It’s also not too late to get a first, second or booster dose vaccine for anyone who hasn’t come forward yet. The vaccine offers the best protection against becoming seriously unwell, will help keep you out of hospital and help avoid passing the virus on to others.”
