Stockport’s Autism Partnership Board is made up of a group of people who work together to help make the lives of autistic adults, children, young people, and their families better. This includes individuals with lived experience. We’re a vital part of the wider One Stockport Borough Plan, aligned with its vision of One Heart, One Home, One Future.

Our mission is to ensure that our autistic community achieve the best possible start in life; supporting positive transitions into adulthood, and reducing inequalities in employment opportunities, health, and care.

The Role: Co-Chair of the Autism Partnership Board

As Co-Chair you will work alongside the current chair to:

  • Contribute to developing and delivering plans to support the Autism Strategy
  • Ensure local autistic voices and their families are heard, across all ages

Autism Strategy priorities will be shaped through continual engagement with Stockport residents and will include:

  • Education and Preparation for Adulthood
  • Community and Healthcare Services
  • Employment, social participation, and inclusion
  • Housing, outdoor spaces, and transport

What we offer:

This is a paid role (through your choice of bank transfer or voucher payments) under Stockport Council’s Working Together Policy. £15 per hour. You will receive payment through their bureau system.

The role:

Pay: Sessional £15p/h

Location: 

  • Meetings will be a mixture of:
  • Online via Teams 
  • Hybrid at Disability Stockport 23 High Street SK1 1EG and online via Teams 

Hours:

  • Expected hours per year:
    • 4 x Autism Partnership Board meetings (online) = 8hrs
    • 4 x Autism Partnership Board agenda planning meetings (online) = 2hrs
    • 4 x Autism Partnership Board debrief meetings (online) = 2hrs
    • 4 x Autistic Adult engagement meetings (hybrid) = 8hrs
  • Total expected per year: 20 hrs @ £15 per hour = £300

Objectives:

  • To work with the other Co-chair and with other Autism Partnership Board members, to continue and to sustainably develop the work, in supporting the autistic community across Stockport.
  • To co-chair the Autism Partnership Board and to support the Strategic Lead for Autism to capture lived experience at the quarterly engagement sessions.
