INFORMATION

Last week to part in the Big Conversation

The NEW Greater Manchester Integrated Partnership would like to understand what matters most to people and communities in Greater Manchester to make sure a new five-year plan reflects the health and care needs of local people and communities.

They want to understand what matters most to you to help them shape the priorities and actions for the plan.

Throughout October 2022, each local borough is talking to local people. Please tell us what matters most to you by answering these four questions;

  • What would make the biggest difference to your life in relation to healthier choices?
  • What enables you to make healthier choices?
  • What prevents you from making healthier choices?
  • What improvement should be prioritised for health and social care services?

What is the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership (ICP)?

In July 2022 Greater Manchester’s Integrated Care Partnership was established.  The partnership brings together all the different organisations which support people’s health and care.

Members of the Partnership come from all ten boroughs within Greater Manchester, including all NHS organisations, councils, organisations from across the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors and Healthwatch as well as others, all working together to help achieve a shared vision.

The partnership will work with people and communities to create an integrated care strategy (five-year plan).

Greater Manchester ICP Five Year Plan

The five-year plan will address the health and care needs of the population across Greater Manchester.  It will include actions to

  • Improve health
  • Reduce inequalities in health outcomes,
  • Improve experience
  • Provide better access to services

Help us today by answering these short 4 questions, all the data will be anonymous.

The end of Man about a Dog

Message from Chris Platt (Man about a Dog)

It is with sadness that we announce that due to a lack of funding, the Man about a Dog project will stop at the end of October 2022.

Despite our efforts, we have been unable to secure any funding that would allow the project to continue and therefore we have no other option but to close it.

We would like to thank all the services, organisations and individuals who have supported MaaD in many different ways over the five years that it has been in existence. We have valued and appreciated everything that you have done to help us over the years.

We would like to thank all the survivors that we have met over the years. We have laughed and cried with you, you have been honest and open with us as we have with you, and we have learned so much from you all. We have been amazed at your resilience and bravery. All we can say is, keep going. If we can do it, anyone can.

We have shown the value of peer support for survivors of suicide attempts. By speaking out about our attempts, we have shown that survivors deserve a humane, compassionate and non judgemental response in order to help us survive surviving.

One Stockport -  The cost-of-living crisis

Message from Cllr Mark Hunter - Leader of Stockport Council and Chair of the One Health and Care Board

& Carol Simpson – Chief Executive, Stockport Council and Place-based Lead for the One Health and Care Board

On behalf of the One Health and Care Board and Stockport Council we would like to thank all our local partners, businesses, voluntary and community organisation for everything you are already doing to support our communities as we find ourselves in one of the most turbulent and difficult financial periods this country has seen for many years.

Yesterday at the One Health and Care Board, we agreed to further our efforts to combat the current cost-of-living crisis, and we are now seeking to ensure the continued support and input from all our partners, businesses and the third sector to help and support those most in need this winter.

The impact of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis means many individuals and families will face challenges as they try to make ends meet. We are living in unprecedented times that are changing week by week, day by day, hour by hour.

In this context, whether you are a local voluntary and community organisation, a public sector body or a Stockport business employing local people or wanting to help your community, you play such a vital role, and we are incredibly grateful for all you are doing to support the people of Stockport through the difficult times ahead.

We recognise the incredible effort we are seeing across the borough as we brace ourselves for the difficult winter that many residents will face. Despite these challenges, we know that by working together, as One Stockport, we can galvanise and coordinate a strong response to the cost-of-living crisis – a response stronger than any of us can achieve individually. We may not have all the answers, but by collaborating, supporting each other and joining forces, we can add strength to our efforts.

We heard this message loud and clear at the recent cost-of-living roundtable event.

We also heard the need for co-ordinated communications across all our networks and partners, so it’s clear what support is available and how to access it.

Our Pledges - working together

Today the One Health and Care Partnership Board have committed to five key pledges:

  • Together, we will identify and protect those Stockport residents and businesses who are most vulnerable with a focus on keeping people safe;
  • Together, we will maximise and generate support and ensure help is available for Stockport residents and businesses through coordinated and effective communication;
  • Together, we will delve deep into neighbourhoods to make sure support is available in our communities and that this support is coordinated;
  • Together we will join up our work with the wider public sector support on offer at this time of year (such as our work to address winter health pressures) to maximise our impact;
  • Together we will create a legacy from our cross-sector response to collectively tackle poverty across the borough.

So this letter outlines how the One Health and Care Board and the Council are already mobilising and supporting our communities, and we want to find better ways of networking and communicating over the coming weeks and months to ensure that we are doing all we can together.

The information below outlines just some of the co-ordinated actions already underway and how you can get directly involved today.

We will also establish a Cost of Living Task Force to provide focus and leadership moving forward.

We will communicate again shortly to keep you all engaged and informed. If there is one thing you do as a result of this letter, please email us at communications@stockport.gov.uk so that we can ensure you receive regular updates about how we are responding to the cost of living crisis together and how you can get involved.

Thank you for your continued efforts and support.

Care Quality Commission - State of Care

Message from Care Quality Commission

CQC’s annual assessment of the state of health and social care in England looks at the quality of care over the past year.

This year – based on CQC’s inspection activity, information received from the public and those who deliver care alongside other evidence – the assessment is that the health and care system is gridlocked and unable to operate effectively.

Black Britain Unspoken

Message from Media Trust

Media Trust is delighted to be marking Black History Month with the release of the three films from our Black Britain Unspoken initiative in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. The unique shorts are streaming now on discovery+ and will also be screened at the Stratford Picture House as part of The New Black Film Collective’s programme of events.

We are incredibly proud of the brilliant films: ‘The Nod: Tell Me That You Got Me’, ‘Too Autistic for Black’ and ‘The Power of Plantain’ and, of course, the brilliant film-makers behind each of them: Richard Ampeh, Talisha ‘Tee Cee’ Johnson and Sheila Kayuma, who were selected from the 100+ applications we received from Black British creatives with powerful stories to tell of being Black and British.

We are very grateful to Warner Bros. Discovery for the opportunity to partner with them on this exciting project to discover fresh perspectives and give under-represented filmmakers a platform to showcase their talents and supercharge their careers.

You can watch the trailer for the films here or by clicking the YouTube link below, and the full shorts on discovery+ (you can sign up for a free 7-day trial here).

Obviously, Media Trust is all about strengthening the voice of under-represented communities not just during Black History Month. To get involved in our work, please contact Louise, our Head of Partnerships, at louised@mediatrust.org
