Latest Statement from Director of Public Health
Message from Alison North (Stockport Council)
This week’s statement focuses on the new phase of the NHS Covid vaccination programme which started this week with the announcement that certain people will be invited for Spring booster.
Rates in Stockport are still rising, and cases are currently at 765.4* per 100,000 population or around 299 people per day. This rise is likely to be an underestimate in cases as people are testing less frequently. See the latest published data online.
Here is the latest Statement from the Director of Public Health
This week we have continued to focus on booster and vaccine clinics along with the usual covid safety messaging.
Thanks to everyone who helped share our posts as part of the National day of Reflection. Just a reminder that on Monday 28th March the pre-election publicity period starts. If you would like a copy of the guidance please let me know.

Nature Rambles 2022
Message from Stuart Rutter (Signpost for Carers)
Signpost’s Nature Rambles for this year. The walks comprise of a short walk with plenty of time to stop and look at the nature around us. Our guide Dave will talk us through all the species that we find.
Booking is essential as these sessions are popular. A minibus will be available from the Heatons Centre for transport to the Formby ramble, however seats will be limited.
To book
Carers first need to register with us –
by calling 0161 442 0442 or
visiting our website: https://www.signpostforcarers.org.uk/request-to-register-as-a-carer-with-signpost/
Alternatively, if you would like to refer someone into our service yourself you can use the attached referral form and send it to info@signpostforcarers.org.uk
and then either call 0161 442 0442 or email carersconnect@signpostforcarers.org.uk. This allows us to contact them with details of the session and alert them to any changes or cancellations.
Please note that these activities are for adult Carers only (by which we mean unpaid adults looking after a family member, friend or other loved one) and are designed to give them a break from their caring roles and a chance to either talk with people in similar situations, Signpost staff or just to take time for themselves. We also have a service called ‘Take a Break’ to help facilitate this (and we have another team working with Young Carers aged 6-25).

Launch of GM health and care big conversation
Across the country, integrated care partnerships (ICP) are being established to enable health and care organisations to better work together to plan and deliver health and care services; to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare; to tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access; to enhance productivity and value for money; and to help the NHS support broader social and economic development. The creation of the Greater Manchester (GM) ICP is the latest stage in the city region’s journey to closer working which has developed since our health and social care devolution deal in February 2016.
The GM ICP is currently developing its Strategy, also known as its 5 Year Plan, which sets out the over-arching vision for the new system. The strategy will describe the partnership’s aims, objectives and priorities for health and care in GM and will explain what the system intends to do to achieve these goals.
To help shape this strategy, the GM ICP is currently running a ‘Big Conversation’ with anyone who lives or works in Greater Manchester to get feedback, thoughts and ideas on what should be included. For further information and for a chance to win one of four x £250 Love2Shop vouchers, please visit www.gmhsc.org.uk/event/the-big-conversation and complete the short survey.
The survey will close at midnight on Sunday 8th May 2022. Winners will be drawn at random and notified by Friday 13th May 2022.
