Marple Men's Group
Message from Aron Thornley (Marple Men's Group)
We are a group of men who meet to talk about stuff. As a group, together. We have one thing in common - we are men , otherwise we are all different. We are here to support men; that's why we exist. If you are finding things tough and/or are interested to learn more, and talk more, please free to join us. We all come to the group with our own ideas, our own personalities and our own challenges.
Health and wellbeing is our number one priority. There are 4 main types of health ;
- Physical – finances, eating, sleeping, exercise etc
- Mental – looking after our minds and our thoughts
- Social – family, friends, relationships
- Meaningful – what you really like doing and/or things with real purpose and meaning for you
We believe that it is only when these 4 things are in some kind of reasonable balance that a person can start to be healthy and well. When we talk we can find out more about what we do, how we think, how we deal with things, what others do, reflect on how we might do things differently, and get support to change in a positive way or even to confirm that we are doing ok just as we are.
We meet on Wednesday nights at 8.00pm. In Marple, Stockport, Greater Manchester. Postcode is SK6 7AH.
Contact us on 07951973792 if you want any further details.

ABL Health programmes
AGEWELL is for any person who is 65 and over and has a BMI 25-35, it is a free 12-week weight management program that supports senior citizens to lose weight in a healthy manner and increase social inclusion. The nutritional aspect is tailored to support the changes in metabolism as people get older and the Physical activity is focused on low impact, strength and balance to improve the quality of life.
TDSU is a free 12 week weight management program for men of any age who have a BMI of 25-35. The need for a men’s only group was identified due to their lower levels of engagement with weight management services, this program also provides nutritional lessons and physical activity (Gym based, Racket sport, circuit training etc.).
There is a group Age well session at Queens Gardens on a Thursday 3-5pm that we would encourage people to come along to, but anyone is welcome to attend any of the sessions on the timetable attached.
If you can help in spreading the word to any friends, family members, tenants or clients in schemes or on IHM patches that you think would benefit that would be brilliant, hoping there’s still time to capitalise on those new year’s health and fitness resolutions.
if you have any questions or require any more info please contact myself or Tariq on 07553303799
