Get involved in ‘An NHS Fit for the Future’

NHS Greater Manchester (GM) is inviting GM residents to share their views in a public engagement exercise ‘An NHS Fit for the Future’, which will run until Autumn.

The NHS in Greater Manchester has a rich history to be proud of. But today it’s facing many challenges and they need your help to ensure we have an NHS fit for the future!

They want to create an NHS that is fit for the future for all GM residents, families and communities and focuses on improving people’s health and wellbeing. The 'Fit for the Future' programme and campaign will take the public on the journey with NHS GM towards achieving their goals; improved population health, performance and how they spend their money.

Have your say!

The NHS knows that they need to:
- Support people to live happy healthy lives
- Balance our finances
- Deliver great services

With this in mind, the NHS are inviting our communities to tell them what's important and what they should prioritise. They want your thoughts and ideas!  Throughout the campaign they'll increase awareness and understanding of the challenges they face.

Might be helpful for you to know:

- NHS Greater Manchester gets £7.2 billion every year from NHS England to pay for health and care.
- £3.7 billion is spent on hospital services.
- £1.6 billion is spent on pharmacy, dentistry, and GP services.
- £850 million is spent on mental health services.

With 2.8 million people in Greater Manchester it works out that we spend an average of £2,500 per person every year – but this cost gets higher every year.
